"To be honest, I was skeptical about whether Discofilm really delivers what it promises. A gel that you apply, let dry, and then peel off is supposed to clean records? It sounded more like a gimmick to me. But after trying it out, I'm really convinced.
One of my older records, which was quite dusty and no longer sounded good, has audibly improved in quality thanks to Discofilm. Cleaning was easy, and removing the film was surprisingly thorough—even the smallest bits of dirt were gone. I also tested it on newer records, and the results were good there too.

Fortunately, Discofilm was able to save both old records and records that were crackling due to residues from a competitor's natural rubber-based product! Dirt and residues are reliably and completely removed from deep within the grooves through adhesion. As already described here, it is important to apply the product generously and be patient while it dries. I personally prefer to use the applicator included in the basic set, which allows for clean and comfortable handling. I also recommend letting the sides of the records dry separately face up, as freshly coated sides that are turned face down tend to form bubbles. Twenty-four hours later, you can enjoy a crackle-free record—provided that the cause was dirt or other residue in the grooves and not mechanical damage. Incidentally, the product is also highly recommended for new records to remove pressing residues. All in all: a top product and a must-have for all record lovers for thorough record cleaning in between! It's great that it's back! P.S. DISCOFILM was presented at the IFA consumer electronics trade show in Berlin in the 1980s and, after being tested by hi-fi magazines, quickly gained a reputation as an effective LP cleaning agent thanks to its success in cleaning extremely dirty records (cola, cigarette ash, etc.). The product was also recommended for cleaning LPs that had previously been played wet so that they could be played dry in the future. In all the decades since its market launch, DISCOFILM has been part of my record care routine. Even though it has been difficult to obtain in the meantime, the current new edition available via DISCOFILM.EU is certainly a great help for many LP fans. Based on my personal experience, I highly recommend this product.
